Schedule and Fees

1. Your child must be potty trained.

2. If your child has lice, chicken pox, fever, or any other contagious illnesses you will be called to come and pick her/him up. If your child is out of school for more than 6 days in a row because of illness, we can negotiate on the monthly fee. I would rather she/he not be here when she/he is sick, please!

3. Your monthly fee must be paid the first week of every month or your child will not come the second week. No part payments. Last year was my hardest year because people expected me to teach for free. I wish I could, but I can’t. I learn to love your kids so it is hard for me to kick them out when parents don’t pay. This year I will crack down on those who do not pay.

4. No one likes to be called halfway through the year and told, “We now have an opening if you would like to start coming!” So if your going to quit halfway through the year because of expenses or other reasons I want to know now so I can fill that slot with someone that will be here all year.

5. I DO NOT BABYSIT! There is a reason I only have a half-hour break in between classes. If I had an hour break some people would be late an hour to pick up their child. People also tend to bring their child early. Please bring your child no earlier than fifteen minutes. Please pick up your child no later than fifteen minutes. This year I will charge $5.00 an hour. In the years past, I have kept track past the fifteen minutes allotted. If I had charged, I would have earned over $1,000.00. That’s how much people take advantage.

Guidelines
(Eat, Sleep, and Rest)

Now that your child has begun the new adventure of going to school, let us work together and help him achieve success in this new experience.

Healthy children are generally happy children. A child that is rested and well nourished usually feels good and is more apt to have the physical stamina that may be necessary to concentrate and work for prolonged periods of time.

If a child comes to school tired due to the absence of sleep or rest, or if he is hungry because of the lack of a substantial breakfast, he may be irritable and possibly limited in is ability to learn. Parents strive to keep their children healthy so that they need not be absent and fall behind in their work. Proper rest, sleep, and sound nutrition can help maintain a child’s health.

It is wise to have your child’s vision and hearing checked. Just this week one of my students, who is now in kindergarten, found out he needed glasses. So he spent the entire year with me, not seeing the chalkboard. In most cases I can pick it up, but if your child is smart, then it’s harder to recognize. There is a reason the state encourages physicals. It’s obnoxious, but great for your child.

When your child brings home schoolwork review it with him. Encourage the child to explain the purpose of the worksheet. Praise your child. He needs encouragement. Learning is not easy and work well done should be recognized.

Become aware of the activities of your child in school. Feel free to discuss your child’s progress with me. Be sure you understand the goals and objectives of my class and my preschool in relationship to your child. If you have any questions call me at 607-0770.

Sincerely, Beverly Redd
